Abstract

Case studies and Capstone projects are widely used in business and management education, however, extant literature discussing both concepts largely focused on the perspective of the writers, implying an academia-centred understanding of case studies and capstone projects, at the expense of the students; who are expected to solve such cases and projects or readers who may be interested in case studies. The primary objective of this study is to provide a guide to management students and professionals who may be at loss on how to attempt case studies and capstone projects in examinations, and in practice. Also, the study identifies effective faculty development processes and support for designing, facilitating, and assessing case studies and capstone projects in business, entrepreneurship and marketing. This study therefore offers an integrative approach to the writing and solving processes of case studies and capstone projects in business and management education. It is recommended that case study and capstone project writers and assessors approach assessments with an understanding of the possible differences in attitude and understanding of students, learners and professionals towards case studies and capstone projects
